Art fabrication

For contemporary artist Ugo Rondinone, David was tasked to do the engineering and design for manufacturing for these sculptures.

• High resolution 3D laser scanning of scholar rocks selected by Ugo Rondinone

• Converting point clouds into closed polygon manifolds

• Converting into voxel models for modifications with the artist.

• Engineering of the inner load bearing steel skeleton

• Verification in FEA concerning wind loads and loads during installation

• Generation of manufacturing data for 5-axis machining of foam parts, laser-cut steel skeleton and assembly brackets.
